Three main questions (sorry for so many): First: My company is considering a switch from a MapBasic Application w/MapInfo RunTimes to a MapX Application.
Some, not all, of our clients use the full editability of maps found in regular workspaces. If we switch to MapX and the confines of Geosets, how limited are we in the editing of the maps in terms of adding new layers, adding new columns or records/objects to the data and in changing the color schemes etc. in the final application. My belief is we are very limited, but can someone verify that? Any preferences out there between the two techniques? Also, just to double check a silly thing, in MapX are we limited to Geosets or are traditional workspaces and map editing an option?? Next: We have an application that looks very closely at ground spaces as part of a larger park. Part of the purpose is to look for specific spaces and see where they are in the larger map (locator maps to be specific). We've made it so when a map prints it automatically creates an overview of the map on the printout. We'd like to see a constant overview map that always sits on top in the MapInfo windows on the monitor. Has anyone done this and do you have any tips for us?? Lastly: Last week there was a conversation on changing column titles to an alias name. Does anyone have a quick review of that or a quick tip on how to do it?
