I ran a few tests by setting up a file similar to one I have for swapping between 24 & 8 bit colours ie MapInfo Maxfiles.reg REGEDIT4 ; ; This setting must be an integer from 10 to 100 inicating ; how many files MI can open simultaneously. ; the default value is 29 : ; [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\MapInfo\MapInfo\Common] "MaxFiles"=dword:00000080 All works OK now. MapInfo please note your documentation. Thanks to all who replied (Butian Wang, Markus Lindner, Mark Knudsen, Marty DeBenedictis). ============================== | | | ------------------------------------------------------------------------ -- -- | --------------------------------------- | If you get a message about too many open files there are two things that you | can do. | - Flush any pending changes to tables by saving or closing the tables. | - Put the statement maxfiles=N in the '[mapinfo]' section of your win.ini | file, where N is a number greater than 29. | ------------------------------------------------------------------------ -- Trey Pattillo Operations & GIS Coastal Bend 911 Network 2910 Leopard St Corpus Christi, TX 78408 ph: 1.361.881.9911 ext. 227 pg: 1.361.270.3908 [enter ph#] fx: 1.361.883.5749 em: [EMAIL PROTECTED] ----- Original Message ----- From: "Antoine Gilbert" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Tuesday, November 20, 2001 17:06 Subject: MI-L too many files open > Hi > > I have a problem with a simple MapBasic application.
