Attached is some code I put together that solves the problem of ensuring
that the frame in the layout window will be big enough for the entire
thematic legend. Thank you to Jacques mostly for putting me on the right
track for this solution. It is pretty easy. I will probably be making a
function out of this, but wanted to send the code to you as is now for an
FYI.

Thanks a bunch!

Subject: MI-L Creating Layouts in MapBasic - How to autosize legend
frames

I just spoke with Cindy at MapInfo Tech Support, and she suggested I put
this question to other MapInfo/MapBasic users to see if anyone else has
encountered my problem and possibly answered it.

I write programs in MapBasic that automate map and layout creation. My
problem is that my boss wants the legend window in every layout "auto-sized"
so as to ensure that there isn't too much white space or that some of the
title or range text isn't cut off. Cindy and I were unable to figure out
any way to do that with MapBasic commands. Help? Has anyone else developed
a workaround for this?

If you have some ideas or solutions, please respond to me personally at
[EMAIL PROTECTED]
<mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> . Thank you.
