Doug,

Becareful though. What you said is true as long as the average stays =
constant at 10. Unfortunately you cannot include an aggregate function =
in a thematic expression. Chance of the average staying the same is zero =
or almost zero and when opening your workspace some time in the future, =
you never going to remember that there is a hidden average typed there.=20

  Brendan
Note that if you save this as a workspace then when you update the =
values in
your currency field, your thematic will be updated. The thematic =
expression
  is dynamically recreated. Handy!

  Hi,

You average is constant throughout (12+10+8)/3=3D3D10
Instead of selecting the currency field for the thematic value, go to =
=3D
the end of the list and choose expression. Here you can build your =3D
  expression:
  currency_amount/10

This will produce your thematic map.

    Hi experts,

I have a table of regions with currency amounts against each region. =
I =3D
  wish
to thematically map the ratio of the currency amount for each region =
=3D
  to the
average (currency amount) for all regions. The averages are not =3D
  recorded
    in the table.

What is the elegant way of doing this.

    example

    Data as it is
    Region Name Euros
    Smithboro 12
    Jonesville 10
    Someplace 8

with the above data I would be seeking to thematically represent =3D
  values of

    Region Name Ratio
    Smithboro 12/((12+10+8)/3)
    Jonesville 10/((12+10+8)/3)
    Someplace 8/((12+10+8)/3)

    i.e

    Region Name Ratio
    Smithboro 1.2
    Jonesville 1.0
    Someplace 0.8
