Recently our (non MapInfo using) data-administrators, in their infinite wisdom, decided it was necessary to rename all of our network drives and relocate and rename a whole bunch of our layers, and we found a package called SearchPlus, (free download(trial?) from www.spatialplus.com) to be quite handy. Once all your files have been shifted or files and drives have been renamed, you can basically search find and replace all the paths (and names) with the new ones... It can be bothersome, but it does sort out all of your workspaces at once. Another tool we used, to find the troublemaking paths, is WorkspaceControl, from 4th beach Software Pty, again, a free download trial package.
