ABOUT THIS CONFERENCE:
The U.S. Trade and Development Agency (TDA) announces a conference on opportunities in
the chemicals industry in Central and Eastern Europe. The event will focus on
specific, defined opportunities for sales and investment in projects in Bulgaria, the
Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Romania, Croatia, and Slovakia. It will feature
projects in the chemical, petrochemical, and refinery sectors.

THE CHEMICAL SECTOR:
Detailed project information will be presented by project sponsors and/or market
leaders from each of the seven Central and Eastern Europe countries. Projects may

PROJECT SUMMARIES:
* Hungary - A $30 - $40 million HDPE expansion project by one of the leading
petrochemical companies in Eastern Europe.
* Hungary - A $5 million water treatment facility expansion for treatment of
wastewater resulting from modernization and expansion of steam cracking unit.
* Croatia - Over $209 million refinery upgrading and modernization to meet EU product
specification.
* Bulgaria - Over 1.5 million energy saving project at a major paint manufacturer.
* Croatia - Over $490 million refinery upgrading and modernization project for
meeting EU specification.
* Romania - Over $212 million of upgrading, modernization, and expansion projects at
two major refineries owned by a major state-owned oil company.
* Slovakia - A new 250, 000 ton per year Aromatic plant scheduled to start-up by 2006.
ABOUT TDA:
The U.S. Trade and Development Agency (TDA) promotes American private sector
participation in developing and middle-income countries, with special emphasis on
economic sectors that represent significant U.S. export potential. Through the
funding of feasibility studies, orientation visits, specialized training grants,
business workshops, and various forms of technical assistance, we help U.S. business
compete from infrastructure projects in emerging markets. We assist in building
mutually beneficial partnerships between American companies and overseas project
sponsors, which result in increased U.S. exports and jobs, and the completion of high
quality, successful projects in host countries.
CONFERENCE HIGHLIGHTS INCLUDE:

ONE-ON-ONE:
TDA-sponsored events grant participants the opportunity to meet one-on-one with the
decision makers of the projects announced at the event. These scheduled meetings allow
the participant to ask specific questions on upcoming projects, and to introduce the
company, its products and services to those key individuals who will influence the
final decisions for those projects. These one-on-one meetings offer the participant an
opportunity to communicate and build a relationship with potential customers from the
international market.
As soon as the Eastern European delegate slate is finalized, early registrants will
