The algorithm for slope in VM is not always "rise over run", and it can
be quite a significant difference as we found out for a court case
earlier this year.

The differences come around when slope is analysed as "percent slope".
Version 2.5 calculates % slope differently to Version 2.6.

Ver 2.5 - %slope = vert distance/slope distance (i.e. the hypotenuse
of the slope triangle)
Ver 2.6 - %slope = vert distance/horizontal distance

It happens that the Australian convention for %slope in most land use
situations matches Ver2.6, not 2.5, and as the slope increases the
difference becomes quite significant.

Rod Dawney
