Hi Ben, I haven't heard of C++ scripts, but you could write a DLL and call it from mapbasic or you could write a C++ program, which uses automation for accessing mapinfo (integrated mapping). I think there are several examples included with mapbasic for doing this.
Search for MITAB for opening TAB files with C++.
