Hi Jim,

You are going to need to go with option 2, as these things you require are not trivial
to do. I'm a bit biased toward ER Mapper as I use it and sell it, but it is really
powerful software. I promised myself not to work with software that I don't like. ER
Mapper has many wizards to help you through various processes. It also has ECW image
compression, which is similar to MrSID compression, but has been reviewed in various
geomatics magazines as being better. As scanned airphotos can take up a significant
amount of hard disk space, I would recommend compressing them after processing them.
BTW, MapInfo Pro can display ECW files. I hope this info helps.

Hi all,
I'm looking to georeference, orthorectify and perform some image analysis on
multi-spectral aerial photos. I want to end up with a georeferenced,
orthorectify, NDVI image that I can import into MapInfo. I already have the
sights mapped in MapInfo and I was wondering how others on the list managed
this. As I see it I have 2 options:
  1.. An add-in (like VM?)
2.. A separate program in which I can process the images and then
translate the georeferenced and orthorectify images into MapInfo.
I have not found anything like option 1 but in option 2 I have looked at
ER Mapper, Idrisi, ENVI , CHIPS and others.

Could anyone offer some advice / opinions/ comments please?

Thanks again all,

Jim
