Hello Laurence, You are probably reaching the compression limits of JPEG files. You may wish to try PNG files instead - I have often achieved smaller file sizes with this format (intended to be the replacement for GIF) and the compression is not "lossy", which means you will not see any undesirable image artefacts like JPEG.
