I received so many responses to this, that I hope "discussion group etiquette" permits me this follow up:
The resounding recommendation (around 7) was to purchase the full Adobe Acrobat program and create .pdf format images which everyone says will preserve the quality. Unfortunately, the client wants to embed these images into their publishing documents, so I'm not sure that will work. I will look into this more closely. I also received advice about playing with image size. But this needs to be automated for various sizes, so this probably won't be efficient. No one mentioned it, but I seem to remember something from my DOS days about printing to a file but have no idea how that works with MI Pro and across platforms. I VERY MUCH appreciate the skills and time-generosity of the members of this list. Any further thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thank you! They will take the images and put them into brochures. However, using "Mac friendly" file formats such as .jpg or .tif produce inferior images from the Save Window As... command. [For example, lines aren't smooth when those file images are printed from another application.] For Windows platforms, we've been able to save as .emf or .wmf and share them for very good print quality but does anyone have advice for sending map images to non-Windows, non-GIS users that gives them the highest quality? I can't believe I'm the only one to come across this but I've looked through the archives to no avail. Any takers? ******* Darrin ---------------------------------------------------- Sign Up for NetZero Platinum Today Only $9.95 per month! http://my.netzero.net/s/signup?r=platinum&refcd=PT97 _______________________________________________________________________ List hosting provided by Directions Magazine | www.directionsmag.com | To unsubscribe, send e-mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED] and put "unsubscribe MapInfo-L" in the message body.
