Thanks All,
Thanks to those who replied. I had a feeling this was what my
problem was, but I wasn't sure which driver was causing the problem
(oracle, spatialware, etc.). Aparently my computer was SUPPOSED to have
Oracle 8i installed on it last week, however.... my systems dept. is
now getting a nasty e-mail from me. stupid, stupid, stupid....

Subject: RE: MI-L Error when starting MapInfo
Evan,
this I believe is simply an Oracle driver DLL. Nothing to worry about.
Simply go to the file location and delete it or rename it to something
like
midloci.olddll or whatever you like. Then it will all start up as
normal.

Dave

Subject: MI-L Error when starting MapInfo
All,
I am getting this strange error when starting up MapInfo, but
MapInfo still seems to work fine. I startup MapInfo and the splash
screen comes up and then the error box pops up that says:
"(c:\mapinfo\mapinfow.mnu:1100) MapInfo Database driver failed to load
c:\MapInfo\MIDLOCI.DLL or dependent drivers not found"
I am running MapInfo 6.5 under Windows NT SP6 on a Pentium 2. I just
upgraded from version 4.12 (which did NOT give me this error). I have 3
other computers with the same setup and they all run just fine. The
only difference is that the computer with the error message has a
calcomp digitizing tablet attached. Line 1100 of the mapinfow.mnu file
is the blank line at the end of the file. If I delete that blank line
the error changes to line 1099. I have re-installed the digitizing
tablet and this version of MapInfo numerous times. I even changed the
shortcut so that it no longer displays the splash screen. Any
suggestions/solutions? Thanks in advance.
