Hi
If you open up a Tab file for a TIF file, it contains data for three
registration points for drawing it correctly with the projection.
In a TFW file, you have got just the NW corner coordinates and rest are
the cell size in the X / Y directions.
So directly doing so is not possible.
I needed to do so, and got through a google search for "tab2tfw" Avenue
script that I could use in Arcview3.1 to convert the tab to generate the
TFW..
probably it led me to ESRI forums..
One more way to do so, is to create a .IF file that uses a raw TIF file to
obtain the number of rows/columns in the image.

MapInfo tab to Arc Info world files

Hello Listers
I have approximately 60 scanned Tiff images that have been registered in
MapInfo. Does anyone know of an easy way to convert the Tab files
(containing the registration information) into ArcInfo world files (.tfw
?).
I have looked at the WorldReg.mbx tool but unfortunately this converts a
world file to a tab. I need something that will convert form a tab to a
world file, or anything else that will allow me to open the tiffs fully
registered in ArcInfo.
I don't want to have to going through the painstaking process of creating
my
own world files. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance
Owen
