A few days ago I asked what one could expect to pay for an
experienced MapX/MapXtreme developer. I wasn't flooded with answers,
but everyone except one requested anonymity, so I will start off
with that one: MapInfo Corp.'s standard rate $2000 - $2500 per day.
My guess is that there is probably some room for negotiation in
that, but that's the top end.

Apparently MapInfo must have snarfed up all the MapX/MapXtreme
consulting work because no other Americans (North, Central or South)
had anything to say. All other responses came from Europe. Here's
the spread:

An employer in the UK:
600 per day, experienced MapX/MapXtreme *consultant* (not
"programmer")
50 per hr for a Delphi programmer
"I've never employed a techy prepared to work more than 8 hours a
day (and several of those hours are 'thinking about the best way to
do it')"

For EXPERIENCED developers, a consultancy in the Netherlands
charges:
EURO 850 per day, excluding travel costs, expenses and VAT.

An independent developer in the UK says:
"...working on a contract (daily-rate) basis with MapX / MapXtreme
would typically charge between UK Pounds 250 to 400. - Depending on
experience etc.
If you wanted to hire developer time from a small company or
consultancy, You would be looking at around UK Pounds 600 to 900 /
day.
Interesting to contrast daily rates for Contract developers with
typical annual salary for full-time employees doing the same job -
Much lower proportionally at 20,000 - 35,000 per year."

       * * *

According to the latest data from http://www.xe.com/ict/, the
exchange rates for the above currencies are:
1 US Dollar = 1.42592 UK pounds
1 US Dollar = 0.870942 Euros
