I have contacted MapInfo Europe Tech Support and they have raised the issue
with people higher up.  Apparently it sounds like there is a bug in the
patch.  They said that they would be trying to release a revised patch for
this problem.  They thought that it might be video driver/card related but
were not sure.

We are using Windows NT SP6a.  Incidentally I tried loading the same
workspace without the patch and it loaded perfectly thanks to a suggestion
from Keith Holswich.  Cheers!

We also do not let our workspaces look for printers because of past
complications with our IT department switching the names of the printers on
us or if they are not available on the network when the workspace calls for
them.
