Russell I know that you are familiar with MapBasic, but it may be worth your while looking at the add-on program 'MapLinker', which does what you have asked and may well save you a lot of time and frustration in programming. MapLinker opens the relevant Access form when you click on a MapInfo object, or vice versa (with a 'find GIS' button on the Access form). MapLinker also links directly to other applications, and even to other pre-defined MapInfo windows, so you're not just limited to Access.
