Andrew,
three options that spring to mind are:
1) there is an NTF translation tool (NTFIN) written by Longdin & Browning
that you can download free from the Autodesk website, which works within
AutoCad Map 3.0 (it may also work in Acad 14.0, I'm not sure).

2) When they were the Data Consultancy, Mapinfo in Reading used to market a
tool for NTF to MapInfo translation.
3) Get your data supplied from OS as .dxf rather than NTF, this is an
option they offer.

I currently receive the OS 1250 data on a regular basis. I am trying to
convert the NTF tiles into a DWG file (Autocad) does anybody know of a
package or routine that will do this.
Preferably we want to be able to preserve the OS layers.
