Hi Steve, ToolBox has a function, which will locate 500 such clusters (here known as facilities). It minimizes the total as-the-crow-flies distance. It doesn't however ensure anything about the number of nodes in each cluster or the summed distance within each cluster.
You can find it at www.routeware.dk/toolbox.html. Look for "Location of facilities" Kind regards Uffe Kousgaard www.routeware.dk ----- Original Message ----- From: "Steve Smith" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Friday, March 15, 2002 1:21 AM Subject: MI-L Clustering algorithm > > > I am looking for some documentation or an algorithm for grouping points by crows > flies (straight line) distances. > > The aim is to group 5000 points into 500 groups so that the sum of the straight > line distances between the points in each group is the minimum or optimised. > > I think I am looking for a clustering algorithm.
