Adobe has problems with phantom lines in many of their products. I have had the same problem with adobe illustrator (ver 7 to current) and photoshop. it only occurs when I am printing a large map to an HP plotter (never to a laser printer). what appears to happen is that the program connects the ends of a line, such as topographic contours (that were never connected in the first place). some times it is one line, other times 50 lines will be connected with the phantom lines. I have never found a solution. I have talked with adobe support, but they have no idea what is going on. They point the finger at the HP plotter driver.
