Help may be at hand - this has worked for me in the past.
You've got a TAB file which is simply text but contains the table definition
- for an indexed field the definition is referenced as per the following
example -
!table
!version 300
!charset WindowsLatin1
Definition Table
Type NATIVE Charset "Neutral"
Fields 2
LinkID Integer Index 1 ;
SimplifiedLinkID Integer ;
First - copy everything!!!!
Then -
Edit this (in notepad or similar) as follows to remove the reference to the
index
LinkID Integer Index 1 ;
to LinkID Integer;
Save - open up the table and see if its come back.

Is the IND file really needed? I have seen this file on occasions, but most
of my tables don't have this file anyway...they just have the 4 standard
files: *.map, *.id, *.dat & *.tab.
Possibly if it is looking for it, then whichever other file in the table
wants it can be modified slightly so that it doesn't need the IND file? No
idea how though...
