Hi Jorge

Select open table from the File menu.
Select raster image from the "Files of type" drop down menu.
locate your file and select open.

if it is the first time you have opened the image mapinfo 
will ask you if you want to display or register the image.
Select "Register" and enter the control points, i.e at 
least 3 points on the map that you know the coordinates of.

and that should be that. to get the coordinates for the 
mouse position when of the image choose "Map" "Options" and 
choose "Cursor Location" and the coordinates will be 
displayed in the status bar at the bottom of the screen.

If you just displayed the image then you can do the 
following

select "Table","Raster","Modify Image Registration"
put in your control points.

also you can select the projection for the image aswell, if 
i remember correctly the default is Lat/Long

Mapinfo should create a .TAB file for the image.
