Common response was that GDA94, NAD83, WGS84 and GRS80 are similar datums. Mapinfo picks the first value listed in the Mapinfow.prj file. To ensure that GDA94 is picked first a change to the prj file is required. As suggested I edited the Mapinfow.prj file and pasted this statement in the "Long/Lat" section: "Longitude / Latitude (Australia GDA 94)", 1, 116 in between "Longitude / Latitude (Gandajika Base)\p4233", 1, 30 "Longitude / Latitude (Australia GDA 94)", 1, 116 "Longitude / Latitude (Geodetic Datum 1949)\p4272", 1, 31 and before "Longitude / Latitude (NAD 83)\p4269", 1, 74 I now have the correct result recorded. Original question: I have a dataset in GDA94 and wish to change it to AGD66. I have followed the Mapinfo help file and tried saving a copy of my original file with a new projection. I am using Mapinfo v6.0 and it has two projection listings for longitude/latitude. GDA94 is under the longitude/latitude update. When I save my dataset with GDA94 and reopen it to check, the projection references NAD83 (?). Has anyone come across this problem before? Can I simply change the header information in the MIF file to accommodate the GDA94 projection? Cheers, Craig C.
