Hi Folks,

This subject was discussed in the last couple of weeks.

(I had always used this messy process too.)

As a result of a posting describing a neat utility called Split_Line
somebody sent me the mbx on request. Unfortunately I have deleted the emails
and can't thank them publicly. However I can send the mbx if you need it.

Splitline will split at either a selected location or selected node. Its
much easier and quicker than the MI "workaround", particularly for long
polylines.

Cheers, Guy

Dear Nat,

(This suggestion is generally applicable to all versions of MapInfo)

To cut a polyline into 2 sections, you might try following steps:

1. Draw a polygon in such position that one side of it passing through the
cut point on the polyline, and the other part of the polyline is bounded
inside that polygon.
2. Make the polyline layer EDITABLE
3. Select the polyline and SET TARGET on it.
4. Select the polygon and use function: OBJECT --> SPLIT. This will divide
the polyline into 2 parts.
5. Select the polygon and delete as we don't need it anymore.
6. Good luck.
