If object A (the eraser) is used to erase the parts of object B (the target) that it overlays, indeed new nodes are created in object B the target but not in A. This could lead to serious topological problems.
The way they can be avoided would be to set A as a target, select B and use the "object overlay" menu item; that will add nodes to A.. Then set B as the target, using A as the eraser, "erase". You will get the coincidental nodes on both objects. WAD or simple overview? For example, lets say that I have two polygons, one over the top of the other in a "plus" formation (+). I set one as a target, and then erase the targeted polygon based on the other. MapInfo will create new nodes for the polygon that was erased, where it intersects the other polygon. However, it will not create new nodes, respectively, on the polygon that was used to clip against. Does anyone know if there is an option in MapInfo to create nodes on both polygons simultaneously? Any help would be appreciated. Sorry if the explanation above is confusing, as this is difficult to describe textually. Thanks, Adam J. Serafin Cartographer ENERmap Inc.
