Projection is stored in .tab file too

You can delete the .prj file, you still can open the .tab(shp) in mapinfo..

but delete metadata in the .tab about projection cause not possible to open the .tab
in mapinfo, even if the prj exist...

so...

this file look very useless, was wondering why mapinfo create it..

Objet : MI-L .PRJ FILE created by MapInfo 7 after opening a SHAPE FILE

Hi List,

After opening a shape file (.shp), MapInfo 7 creates a .prj file. Does anyone know
what is that file for?

Thanks in advance!

Kind regards,
