I thought I would send this question again, as I did not seem to get much response.
I would think somebody out there has come across this problem. This is a question my company has been struggling with for several years since our Microstation Workstation went down several years ago and made it impossible to use their proprietory digitizer tablet. We went along without a digitizer until about 9 months ago, when we purchased a Calcomp DrawingBoard III (A very nice tablet by the way). I spent many an hour and lots of phone calls to various professionals trying to determine the best software to manage our digitizing in. It had to support many projections and hopefully translate and convert to our GIS, which is Mapinfo. I asked about the latest versions of Intergraph Geographics, ArcView, ArcInfo, Autocad Mapper, etc. But, I got mixed views on all of them. So 9 months later we are limping along with the digitizer plugged directly into MapInfo. This has worked, but does not produce the same quality or have the editing capabilities as Microstation, obviously. Now to ask the MapInfo community what they use for serious digitzing? Again we would like to have various projections available. Streaming input and on the fly editing of points, line segments, etc. And be able to dump directly into Mapinfo or translate to a compatible format. It would be nice to do enter attributes while digitizing and to save digitizer control point files for faster setup of production maps. What do people use out there with MapInfo? Autocad? ArcInfo? Didger? Grass? --------------------------------------------------------------------- List hosting provided by Directions Magazine | www.directionsmag.com | To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Message number: 2615
