thanks guys, got it werking. goes fantastic.
for the record, here's my version of it...
MIobj.do "Save window " & WindowIDee & " as " & Chr$(34) &
Application.CurrentProject.Path & "\mapinfo\" &
SelectedObject & ".png" & Chr$(34) & " Type " &
Chr$(34) & "PNG" & Chr$(34)
and no, no manual yet, but i seem to be cranking along okay anyhow.

Ash -
Its the MapBasic command Save Window As -
eg (for int mapping)
strMsg = "Save Window " & mlngMapWindowId & " as """ & strPath & """ type
""JPEG"" resolution 120 " & _
"Copyright " & chr(34) & sCopyrightMsg & chr(34) & " Font
MakeFont(""Arial"", 1, 24, " & RED & ",-1)"
mMapObj.Do strMsg
You can use other resolution (dpi) settings or types - eg BMP, WMF, PNG as
suits, and omit the copyright/font clause altogether.
(Still no MapBasic manual then?!?)

Hi,
I have used this in an application:
Save window windownum as maindirectory+"L"+snifnum+".jpg" Type "JPEG"
Where
"windownum" is the id of the mapper window
"maindirectory" is the string with the location/path
"sinfnum" is the oultlet/branch/map map number or any other id reference
Good luck and hope it helps

heya, could anyone please tell me the command to do this through MapBasic.
i'm creating bitmaps of hundreds of maps, and i've got mapinfo going to the
right place and zoom automatically, and i want an automated output of the
current view. the user shouldn't see the dialog for saving the size of the
map or the save dialog box. so RunMenuCommand is not suitable, i'm hoping
it's something simple like
MIobj.do "Save Window(1,"blah.BMP")"
or whatever
the name of the file is something i want to pass as a variable, and i know
in advance the save location.
