I have addressed that problem with WORTRANS.mbx (available as MLC compliant
application at www.paris-pc-gis.com/mlc/mlc_start.htm ). Its description
reads

"Translates key words in default titles of frame definitions found in the
layout section of a WOR from one language to another. Both languages must be
available in the INI file. Translated WOR is saved under a different name
chosen by user and can be loaded on a MI installation working under the new
language. If those key words were not removed, the WOR will load but any
existing layout frame using MI default titles will be empty."

Because of the MLC concepts, any language can be defined in the INI file
attached to the mbx. English should always be there, the strings for the
other language could be "translated" only for those terms appearing in the
wor.

Remember please, that if anyone makes a translation for these MLC compliant
free applications, he should send me his translation in order for me to
integrate it in the distribution file for others to benefit.

Subject: MI-L Loading MI 6.0 workspaces in MI 6.5?

Hi Andreas,

I can guess from your mail address that you are from Germany. How you
changed the language of MapInfo
lately, for instance using MapInfo 6.0 German and switch to MapInfo 6.5
English ?

If you have then this is the reason for your trouble.

In the workspace your reference between the frames and the windows are
based on the window names,
and when swithing from German to English your map names will changes from
"... Karte" to "... Map".

And this is enough to confuse MapInfo...

Solution: Open your workspace in a text editor and replace the German text
with the English text.

HTH,
Peter

Hi!

When loading workspaces from MI 6.0 into MI 6.5 all map windows in the
layout appear as "No Window" and I have to reselect the proper maps
from the drop down menu after doubleclicking every map window.

Luckily I don't need to remake thematic maps and legends, but it's
still a bit annoying, that I have to "repair" every workspace before I
can work with it in MI 6.5.

Does someone knows why this happens and how to avoid this effect?

Andreas
