1. MapInfo is easier to use, it costs less, it's more powerful,
works better in Windows, and because God kills a kitten every
time somebody buys another copy of ArcView...

2. You answered this yourself ...because of some partnerships
your company had...

But seriously, when evaluating products, draw up your own list of
what you want it to do, and then go ask vendors of each to
explain to you how their product does (or doesn't do) what you
want. Don't forget to include the costs of retraining, legacy
data conversion, software rebuild, etc. if you switch... as well
as the costs of acquiring, assimilating and translating the new
data you'll using an developing.
