We use MapInfo as a primary tool. However, Maptitude does a great many things that the ordinary user would find useful. It's far different from 4-5 years ago and comes with a BUNCH of data.
Even if we decided to move from MapInfo to another platform, I'd still stay on this list because of the very hogh level of the discussions. John D. ArcInfo Good Point, Mr. Crisp. And just in case it is a 'sneaky advert', I'd like to put my 2c in because the excrutiating hell I experienced using Maptitude is a torture I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy. I had a really, really bad experience with Maptitude about five or so years ago. Don't know how it's improved since then, but it was buggier than Joe's apartment. Don't mean to slander, just sharing... -----Original Message----- From: CRISP, Paul -Syntegra UK [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Friday, September 06, 2002 10:19 AM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: RE: MI-L MapInfo v. Someone chose Mapinfo 5 years ago because that's what they were using. Evan's company should probably continue to use MI today because they know how to use it. Our firm has largely stopped using Mapinfo (I'm not even sure if it is installed anywhere right now) because Maptitude (www.caliper.com) does most of what we want faster, easier, and cheaper, and the output looks an order of magnitude better. The balance of what I used to use Mapinfo for gets done in Photoshop and Illustrator. In our business, it's only interesting if I can print it, and the better it looks, the more interesting it becomes.
