I manage to plot UK postcodes every day without problems in a variety of
different ways - from SQL Server, dBase and Excel.

So ... start with the obvious :-)

Are you using the full ( ie XX99 9XX) postcode?
Are the formats (table to be geocoded and search table) compatible?

What are you using as a search table? The one I use one contains 95,000
entries for a smallish chunk of SE England. Can you display the search table
as a layer without errors?
