Hi Rick,

There might be some tools out there that'll streamline the process. But they might
cost you, or they may be too dependent on the data sets to be used.

I have an alternative suggestions, using only the two standard MI tools.

1. Make two mappers, #1 with the detailed content and #2 with the overview map content
2. Make a layout with both the mappers represented appropriately
3. Save as workspace
4. Run the standard tool Nviews.mbx, and register your 50 detailed map position as
"named views".

Every time you need to go back:
1. Open the workspace
2. Run Overview.mbx to have the overview mapper show the position of the details
mapper
3. Run Nviews.mbx
2. Cycle thru your "named views" to fetch the appropriate details map
3. Switch to the layout, and print it

Nviews.mbx will read a definition list when started, and write the definition list
when exiting. The list is always located in the mbx's directory, so you can copy and
run the mbx from a different dir if you want to have a seperate named views list.

It may sound troublesome, but it beats having to have 50 of one or the other :-)

If you have MapBasic, the source code of both utilities are included and can be
modified if necessary.

HTH
