I'm not sure what the error message means, but one thing i always
try if the UT fails to convert to a .TAB file, is to convert to
a .MIF and then import the .MIF to a .TAB.

Subject: MI-L ESRI Translation to MapInfo

Hi all,

I'm having problems translating ESRI files (of Chicago census tracts) into
MapInfo. I'm mainly concerned with the shape file, although none of them
seem to work out.

Here is what I have attempted so far:
*Universal translator-received error message "Translation failed. See log
for details."
*Log tells me:

Universal Translator (20010330 - Build 480a)

Usage: imut <mappingFile> [<keyword> <value>]*

Program Terminating

Translation FAILED.
Unable to generate mapping file.

I'm sorry to say that I am not fully trained in MapInfo, so any help is very
much appreciated.

Thanks!
