I just wanted to take this opportunity to thank everyone who replied to my
posting, especially Ahmed, Lamia, and Juanse. With a little bit of help
from ALL of you, I was not only able to get my task accomplished, but I
certainly learned a few new things in MapInfo.

You people are truly professionals and I hope one day I can only return the
favor to someone else.

Forever Grateful

Frank B.

Dear Frank,

I used record count in one of my projects and here's how:
1. Open the table (table 1) and add a column (table, maintenance,
structure, add field) and name it row_id
2. update column where you choose the column to update "row_id" and get
value from the same table and value is "rowid"
3. Save table (table 2)
4. Go to Qry, SQL Select and choose the updated table, then in the select
columns box, choose the column you would like to count (project name for
example, row_id, and from "aggregates" choose "count"
5. In the "group by column" option choose how you wanted it to be grouped
(by project type and county for example)
6. Run the query and save it as a table (table 3).
7. Open the last table (the one with the count) (table 3) and your first
table (table 1) and do an SQL Select Query. In the from table choose table
1 and table 3. In the "where condition" choose the column that has row_id
from table 1, from "operator" choose "=" and then the column that has
row_id from table 3. This way we are joining the two table with the value
of row_id.
8. Run the query and save it as a table (table 4)

Now you can work on table 4 and geocode it and create a thematic map that
will give you a legend with the count of the different categories in your
table

Hope this is what you are looking for

Hello,

Does anyone know how I can extract a record count into a new table? I have
a table with millions of points and associated labels. I would like to Sum
all the common labels and view the record count just like the Legend "Show
Record Count" option.

Thanks in advance,

Frank B.
