Thank you very much to everyone who helped me with this AutoCAD problem.
I've imported my files back in as AutoCAD Version 12 files and approximated
the MapInfo input variables using the 'get info' function on an existing map
that had the same boundaries.
After a bit of eyeball trial and error I have got the imported map sitting
directly over the comparison map using the projection: Other Australian
Projection: PSMA Lambert Conformal Conic.
However I need to get the map to rotate about 1.5 degrees anti-clockwise for
it to fit perfectly.
* I am going to attempt to rotate the AutoCAD file ahead of
importation in order to try and get it to fit. (Apologies to any MapInfo
purists out there this certainly is a bit of a hack job.)
But the table that I am importing contains about 30 layers. Some of these
are state boundary maps that I already have from another source.
* I am thinking that I could use these as control points of
corresponding rotation in AutoCAD or maybe using an FME conversion.
* I have also tried using an add-on to manually register points across
after importing my data in a Tiff format. But I am loosing far too much of
the detail if I import the 30 layers at once.
* I am also going to try experimenting with other values for the
central Meridian
(all as per suggestions I've received)
Thanks for all your help. I be really interested to hear any new suggestions
or opinions you've got on what I've done so far.
Cheers,
Percy
