Lars

MapX has a layer property that gives you this info as a FeatureTypeConstant
- try that instead of MI/MapBasic if thats all you're doing.

You can also use begin/end transaction to loop the features in a layer more
quickly.

If you HAVE to use MapBasic how about a query on the layer grouping by
Object type?

Subject: MI-L Dominant feature type ?

Hi List,

Has anyone developed a performance efficient way of determining the dominant
feature type of a table ?
I'm moving MI data to the Arc'ish side, and need to automatically convert
into single-topology layers.

Querying with Area() and ObjectLen() is not an option. It's simply too slow
and ineffeicient.
