Hello Jesper, Indexing fields will help simple searches and is indeed necessary for MapInfo Pro's "Find" function.
Indexing does not effect drawing speed but may effect the performance of record inserts, updates and deletes. This will be especially noticeable on large tables. Often for batch operations, it is better to drop indexes, perform changes and re-build indexes again. However, this is not always practical, especially in enterprise database environments. All I know about index is that I must index all fields in a table that I want to use for searching, but is the performance affected by this setting as well? With performance I think I mean the speed at which the map is drawn but if there are other performance issues please tell me... /Jesper --------------------------------------------------------------------- List hosting provided by Directions Magazine | www.directionsmag.com | To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Message number: 4384 --------------------------------------------------------------------- List hosting provided by Directions Magazine | www.directionsmag.com | To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Message number: 4392
