Greeting Richard and List,

Though it may not be EXACTLY the way you described, Opisoft's solution does
the trick.

We have developed a VB-MapX module - Report Mapper - which will hook onto
any of the popular report generators, such as Business Objects, Impromptu
(by Cognos), Brio, Panorama, etc. In fact, any report than can be passed as
a recordset or as a text file, can be input to the Report Mapper.

You create the report in the normal way, having one of the fields being the
key field for mapping (i.e. Customer Number). Then you hit a new icon (Map
Report) and your report, with all the fields you have created, is mapped as
a layer on top of a predefined Geoset (workspace). You can now zoom, pan,
info, thematics, layer control - whatever, as you please. Moreover, you can
select records on the map, hit "Return to Report," and see your report
filtered down to the set of records selected on the map.

BOMI (Business Objects - MapInfo) hooks Report Mapper to Business Objects,
and does all the above. To date it has been successfully sold to a number of
customers in Israel. Yes, of course it will work in English, too.

There is much more information. Please contact me if you're interested.

Best regards,

Subject: MI-L Using MapInfo Map in other program

Hi all,

I tried to use MapInfo Map within another tool, e.g. Business Objects. I
wanted to make a thematic map based on a query that I made in Business
Objects. This was not possible since I could only udse tab files in MapInfo
Map. Does anybody know a solution to come around this problem?

Thanks,

Richard Hogendorf
