As well as the distance units in the program you also need to set the
display distance units for your map window. This often crops up - MapInfo is
very powerful in handling so many display systems and distance units at once
but it can be confusing. The units used by the map window usually default to
lat/long and miles unless you specify otherwise, or different user
preferences have been set up on the machine.

As you open a new map window use "set map" to specify the distance and area
units which you are using in your program, ie those you specify with "set
distance units", "set area units" etc. This gives you complete control over
the results.

Subject: MI-L change the ruler unit

I set the distance unit to "km" in my VC++ project with the following line:

        mapinfo.Do("Set Distance Units \"km\"");

But the ruler still show distances in miles. How can I change the distance
unit in the ruler window?

Thank you.
