I have been thinking of a solution to this problem for quite sometime and
this time I am pretty serious in finding a solution to this. Of course with
the help of my fellow MapInfo users worldwide.
I have been working on preparing network maps for the cable industry in
MapInfo.
The network elements like the amplifiers, power supply feeder etc. are
represented by unique symbols. Most of the symbols have text objects in them
and these symbols are uniquely oriented (rotation)in the original CAD files
and this needs to be followed in the TAB files.
I experimented initially using the Symbol Maker (mbx) in MapInfo and it
allowed me to create symbols but not with any text elements in them.
Moreover the MapInfo compatible symbols are not ttf type.
The result is that even if I create a bit map symbol, I cannot use my Rotate
Symbol mbx as it can only rotate ttf symbols.
I was thinking of creating ttf symbols using some font maker s/w and then
bring it in MapInfo.
But before that I wondered if any one had done any homework on this or faced
a similar situation?? would be happy to share their experiences.
Thanks in advance
Regards
SRG
