The DAT format is basically a DBF ver 3 file + a little additional. I
have a description at my website with the differences and the DBF format
description from Borland.

Kind regards

Subject: MI-L : Specification of MI .dat files

Is there anyone out there who can help???

I am trying to write a program in C that will delve into a MapInfo .dat
file and look for a specific instance of a string within the data. I
have got most of the code working bar one crucial element - actually
getting inside the .dat file and looking around.

Does anyone have a specification, or know where one is, that will allow
me to see what the structure of a .dat file is. Alternatively, does
anyone have some C code knocking around that looks inside a .dat file
they would be happy to give me?

All help will be greatly appreciated!!!!
