Hi everyone and Feliz Navidad to all:

I am exploring OGR Opensource software for datum/projection transformation
(www.remotesensing.org), and like with the mapinfow.prj file, one of the
datum/projection used here in Chile is not properly integrated. I am refering to
PSAD56 Provitional South American Datum 1956 in UTM.

This datum is listed only for Lat/long but not for UTM. I have properly created the
UTM lines in mapinfow.prj, and manage to do the same for OGR .cpp definition file.

However, I am intrigued with the meaning of the projection numbers?. I mean ... maybe
is better to work with an example: The following list is part of the mapinfow.prj
file, what this numbers stand for 78,79,80,81,82,83,84 is this part of the EPSG
definition?

"Longitude / Latitude (Oman)", 1, 78
"Longitude / Latitude (OSGB 36)\p4277", 1, 79
"Longitude / Latitude (Pico de las Nieves)", 1, 80
"Longitude / Latitude (Pitcairn Astro 1967)", 1, 81
"Longitude / Latitude (Potsdam)\p4314", 1, 1000
"Longitude / Latitude (Provisional South Chilean 1963)\p4254", 1, 36
"Longitude / Latitude (Provisional South American 1956)\p4248", 1, 82
"Longitude / Latitude (Puerto Rico)", 1, 83
"Longitude / Latitude (Pulkovo 1942)\p4284", 1, 1001
"Longitude / Latitude (Qatar National)\p4285", 1, 84
"Longitude / Latitude (Qornoq)\p4287", 1, 85
"Longitude / Latitude (Rauenberg)\p4314", 1, 1000
"Longitude / Latitude (Reunion)", 1, 86
"Longitude / Latitude (Rome 1940)", 1, 87

thanks
