So anyone caught excessively joculating in public henceforth had better be pretty damn funny or face the withering scorn of just about half the subscribers here. The other half loves it, so what to do? IMHO, one *really good* joke a week, posted in the (usually) dead hours of a Friday afternoon isn't going to kill anyone. The occasional (note "occasional" means "very few") off-topic postings aren't going to melt down your servers, either. A good mailing list stays on topic, but tolerates -- and even welcomes -- a bit of social interest now and then.
