You can click on the layout window first to make it the "front window", then type the following into the mapbasic window, and then hit 'enter':
Set Window Frontwindow() Title "yourtitle" Of course, there are more elegant ways to set the name up programmatically if you are creating batches of maps but it sounds like this one line will serve your needs.
