Thanks to all that responded to my call for help on installation problems with pen files etc on NT the other day. It may be relevant on all problems with pen files etc. Method 1 even fixed some issues if you uninstalled version 6.5 after installing version 7.0.
Seems that it is a relatively common problem and has been around since version 6.5. The issue is with access rights for installing software. Thanks to Blaine Castle, Marie Lilley and her system administrator, Moshe_Binyamin, Lars V. Nielsen, Paul CRISP, Ioan Jones and Steve Smith for their help. It seems that there are two options described below. 1. Try running the set up program from MapInfo directory C:\Program Files\MapInfo\Professional\AddUser. If this doesn't work, then the instructions below should solve the problems. Evidently this is a problem for all new software that has been designed for XP or Windows 2000 on machines that have restricted access rights. 2. maunal Instructions As follows - Version 6.5 Installation Instructions for Winnt with mandatory profiles: Installation.
