Ulrike Best way to do this is to build up a string, having retrieved the names of your columns, and then use Run Command to execute it
eg Run Command "Select * from table_X Where " & attribut_1 & " <> " & attribut_2 & " into new " - or you could dimension attribut_1 & attribut_2 as alias (instead of string). I have got a table with polylines and want to choose some of them according to their attached attributes. The user chooses at runtime which colum names are relevant by ticking a checkbox. According to the choosen checkbox different colum names are assigned to the variables attribut_1 and attribut_2. When I print the value of attribut_1 and attribut_2 I can see that the right colum name has been assigned to the variable but I cant use it in the select statement Select * from table_X Where attribut_1 <> attribut_2 into new Is there a way to keep the Select statement variable or do I have to state this select statement several times, embedded in an if statement, for every possible value attribut_1 and attribut_2 can get ?
