I didn't get too many responses but here's my attempt at a
summary:

- GeoWorld recently published a helpful overview of the SVG
format. The article can be found at:
http://www.geoplace.com/gw/2003/0301/0301svg.asp
- Another article on how to build an SVG map app:
http://www.svgelves.com/learn/L2_01_01.asp
- a user review of SVGMapMaker was very positive - easy to
use, great results. Two potential downsides: text handling
for pre-7.0 MI versions and SVG file sizes.

I've also collected a list of several websites that others
in the group may find valuable.

        http://www.adobe.com/svg/viewer/install/main.html (needed
to view sample SVG apps)
        http://www.carto.net/papers/svg/index_e.shtml
        http://www.dbxgeomatics.com/SVGMapMaker.asp?Language=EN
        http://www.gis-news.de/svg/map2svg.htm
        http://www.w3.org/Graphics/SVG/Overview.htm8
        http://www.svgelves.com/
http://www.svgmapper.com/ (for ArcView but still good info)
        http://www.wdvl.com/Authoring/Languages/XML/SVG/

If this prompts anyone else to chime in with experiences,
particularly as SVG compared to "mapping engines" like
MapXtreme, I'm sure we'd all appreciate it.

Thanks to those who responded (and to those who respond on
other issues, thus making this group effective).

Hello group,

I'm hoping to start a thread on SVG tools - in particular,
I'd like to hear any experiences you have had with the
various MapInfo-compatible tools for generating SVG format
maps. There are several available, at very different
prices. Are they easy to use? How "compatible" are they?
Unfortunately, I myself have no experience with SVG. I'm
sure there are many others besides me who would benefit from
a consolidated summary. I'd be happy to collect all the
responses and publish a summary.

Thanks!

Darrin
