Hi Tom, If the raster map is geocoded correctly, your gps collected data should overlay neatly with minor shift since MI do automatically the coordinate conversion. It will be a little bit slow especially in large datasets. (Consult the User's Guide. Projections and Coordinate Systems: Projection Tips).
However, you can modify ur raster image registration using : Table..Raster..Modify Image Registration and choose a different projection (LL for instance). Don't modify the control points. Note: Open a new map window after then so that u can feel the change. I routinely collect gps data in LL and use the data as is to create thematic maps of point, line, and area features. Often, I wish to underlay the maps with a aerial image which I have obtained. I use MI5.01. The problem is that the images are usually either in UTM or some projected format and I cannot line the thematic maps and the image up. The raster menu choices for registration do not seem to offer me a means to change the projection of the image to LL. Either there is an easy means which escapes me or I need to find some slick utility which has the ability to mainpulate raster image projections. Ideally I would like to be able to convert all the rasters to LL coordinates.
