Peoples, We are in the process of upgrading our Census 96 pack with Census 2001. We are running Streetworks 98, and are aware (without having rectified), the issues surrounding the geodatic datum shift between releases of Census.
Our system geocodes addresses of approximately 1,000,000 Tattscard holders, and these have been geocoded using Geoloc based on their residential address. From my understanding, overlaying new Census boundaries and other data such as streets, point objects and other polygons, will also mean that the x/y co-ordinates we currently have for tattscard holders will shift 200m away from where they should be, because CData2001 uses the new datum whereas Streetworks 98 was based on the old datum. Is this the case? I have worked in GIS before, but just recently using MapInfo. I believe the following items below are options that I can undertake, but I would like to know from MapInfo users their thoughts on how best to resolve this matter: - purchase new Streetworks and geocode all addresses again (I can't see this happening due to internal issues here at the moment) - only import boundary information, and not streets, so as to keep tattscard holders in alignment with street information (this seems like a poor option) - apply a formula across the database to calculate new x/y coords for tattscard holders ( i still see this as having issues when I geocode new addresses on old version of streetworks) >From my understanding, purchasing Streetworks will solve my problem, in that I can >re-geocode all addresses again, but as I said, I can't see a penny coming out of >management. That being the case, what are my best options moving forward? I have also been informed that I can export the table, change the projection in the file, and then re-import this. If anyone could provide feedback, or at least point me in the right direction, it would be much appreciated.
