Hi Suzanne, Generally if the output involves raster maps then the EMF WMF are huge!
We use JPEG or PNG to get reasonable quality prints. The trick is to not accept the defaults on the export window dialog. We usually would go for a width of 50 cm. When we import this the definition is retained. If you don't like the polygons colouring export it as a separate layer using WMF and the overlay in the graphics package you are using.
